VBox introduces first DVB-T2 live TV network ‘STREAMER’

September 8, 2014

TV Gateway Streams HDTV from DVB-T2 to any Connected Device in the Home

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands – September 8, 2014 – VBox Communications, the pioneer of live TV streaming to connected devices in the home, today announced the availability of its new TV Gateway. The device, available for €129 on VBox’s retail website, with shipments starting in the beginning of October, is the world’s first TV Gateway to receive DVB-T2 high-definition broadcast quality TV signal and stream it over a home network to any networked device.

The new TV Gateway is the only device on the market capable of streaming from DVB-T2, enabling HDTV services such as Freeview HD in the UK, Teletene in Belgium, Digitale Terrestre in Italy, and other HDTV services in Finland, Denmark, Sweden and other countries. It is also backward compatible with DVB-T networks.

“We are committed to providing consumers the highest quality multi-screen TV experience,” said Amir Aharonovich, VP of Marketing for VBox Communications. “Until now, TV viewers with access to high-quality aerial or terrestrial DVB-T2 could only enjoy HDTV on their television. Now, our second generation devices extend the same content – in full broadcast quality – to any connected device.”
The second generation TV Gateway receives broadcast TV signals from terrestrial sources and converts them to IP at the consumer’s home. The device then simultaneously streams multiple high quality broadcast TV channels across the home network to any connected (UPnP) device, such as a Smart TV, tablet, PC, Mac, smartphone, Android set-top-box, game console, iPhone and iPad. Additionally, the Gateway serves as a whole-house-DVR/PVR and allows users to record live HDTV on removable or network storage
VBox Communications is exhibiting at IBC and will be showcasing the new TV Gateway and its growing ecosystem platform (including native apps and an SDK for fast integration of live TV, recording and EPG into existing software) at IBC 2014 – Hall 3 in Booth B20, September 12-16.
